This project was to help Chalton Street Market achieve a circular economy. As the market was now in decline, our aim was to help the residents of Somers town to revive the market by using recycling resources from community organisations. The aim of the project is to reduce waste, support residents to create goods to sell, and increase trade on ‘Chalton Street market.’

Through interviewing residents, experiencing community activities, and helping community organisations as volunteers to organise activities. We were able to gradually understand the operation of community organisations. At the same time, these experiences helped us to get closer to the community staff and residents. This will also help us to carry out the next workshop.

Preparing for Workshop

The purpose of the workshop:

  1. The event could invite staff from as many community organisations in the community as possible.
  2. The event provided an opportunity to help different community organisations network.
  3. The staff helped us to understand more about the running of community organisations, including past, present and future developments. In addition we want to understand the relationships between them.

In the end, the project delivered three pieces of work: a report, an interactive map, and a banner. It is hoped that this project will promote and guide residents to know more about the activities of community organisations and to participate actively in them.

This project serves as a push to help communities achieve a circular economy.
